pdf file uploaded OK, but blank on web page
#1Postby glacier1 » 2010-03-25 05:16
Sir,
I am having problems uploading pdf files as a link on my web site. I am able to upload the pdf file. The pdf file shows the correct document size in the public_html folder. But, when I open the pdf link on my website the page is blank.
All previous pdf uploads worked great, until a few weeks ago.
Your assistance with my problem is greatly appreciated.
Respectfully,
KAW

Some questions:
Do you upload the PDFs in Binary mode?
If you re-download the PDF and run it locally, does it still work?
Do older PDFs on the server (if any) still serve correctly?
Also check if there is some size or file type restriction introduced by the hosting service, sometimes they do without notice.

Boco,
Thank you for the quick reply.
You solved my problem. I switched from "ASCII" to "Auto" Transfer Type and solved all problems.
Excellent service and Thanks again,
KAW

OS: Win 7 Pro; FileZilla: 3.3.2.1; Firewall: AVG 9/0.791; ftp "hosted" by TimeWarner Roadrunner
Similar problem but the above does not fix the issue. Transfer settings are already set to Auto. Firewall is configured for FileZilla to Allow All. I've read configuration manual and for what I understand believe my set up is correct. I'm able to connect. I'm able to see files on my local pc and the ftp site. I'm able to transfer files some successfully and others not. I have two pdf files which are reported to have transferred correctly, but the file size shown on the ftp site is shown as 0. Other files seem to transfer correctly which I can open while others I can't. Attached is a log.
I have the ability and I am willing, and would prefer to have an online session with someone to remotely get online with me to see the issues and fix the problems. Just an offer.
Questions and fixes for
1. File says it transfers successfully, however file size is 0.
2. Some files download and open in Adobe - others don't. The one's that don't either do nothing or say file is damaged and cannot be repaired. However, the file on my local pc works fine.
3. TimeWarner-Roadrunner don't seem to "support" ftp questions or issues. I don't know what questions to ask or how to ask the questions that I need for them to answer or fix settings on their side.
Any and all help appreciated.

Please re-upload your logs using a proper file format. Textual content should use .txt, not .pdf.

botg-
Thank you. Problem identified- I've exceeded my limited amount of storage space. I'll need to find another ftp service provider or look for another solution.
Thanks to the forum for the help.
