The listeners can find the secrets of the story like Harry himself. The thoughts and calculations of other characters, including the central ones like Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, were hidden until Harry was revealed.

The audiobook series follows a framework. Regarding Harry's years of study, they often start from his home with the Dursley family in the Muggle world. He set a world record when he used 125 different voices in the recording of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire audiobook, a record which he broke when he used 134 different voices in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix audiobook, a record he shares with Stephen Fry, who narrates the UK versions of the Harry Potter audio books.
