Harry Potter en Français
Has anybody read the Harry Potter books in French? How easy is it? How advanced do you have to be? Merci, beaucoup
In the beginning you have to learn a lot of vocabulary of the magic world, but after that I was able to follow the story without understanding all the details. Of course I already knew the Harry Potter books. But I would not recommend to start reading before you have nearly completed the French tree.
if you have finished the french tree you are ready to read harry potter. they are not a very advanced read. i have the french ebooks, if you post on my wall i can send you them.
I just finished the first one, it was very fun to read it again and I want to read the rest of the books as well. I'm not sure how to post on your wall but I would love to make use of your ebooks
Reading any book that you have read before in English is a good idea... even if you are lost for a whole sentence you know the story already and usually from context you can work out situations and new words.
Buy the French and the English versions of the book. Read them chapter by chapter in both languages. You will learn the language very fast. I learnt English that way. And, I am now qualified to translate books. Enjoy the process. (By the way, my mother tongue is French. I can review your immersion translations (Translation Tier 10). Have a great day,
Amuses-toi à lire les livres qui t'intéressent. Tu vas progresser rapidement. À bientôt,
It could be done, but I bet it would be tough at first. Try something even easier, like The Wizard of Oz (Le magicien d'Oz), The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (Le lion, la sorcière blanche et l'armoire magique), or a book by Roald Dahl. The reason I don't suggest something originally in French is because in books for kids there is often a lot of slang used in the conversations, which can be tough going.
i wanted to do that too. i've read all of them in english and spanish and i really want to learn french so my goal is to read them once i finish the french tree
If you know the story it is amusing. I have experience only with the very first volume and I bought it to improve my French vocabulary. Not dangerous, try it! What I can tell you: it is definitely easier than the Lord of the Rings in French... :)
I've started reading them a few months back, before I finished my tree (I've finished it by now). You can definitely do it, but I would only suggest to do it if you already read the books before. It can help to expand your vocabulary because there are some unusual words (besides the words related to magic) in it. I'm almost finished with book 4 now, and every book was difficult to start, but I was reading the end of every book fluently, although I didn't know every word of every sentence. The series as a whole is great because it starts so easy with book 1 and they gradually get harder and harder.
