Return to Castle Wolfenstein runs on a very specific game engine that's not supported by newer graphics cards. The title screen is fine but everything else, including browsing the menus, runs at a 0,95 fps.
Activision never came back to fix this and Id doesn't really care about the 2 Wolfenstein games that Activision made. (They even removed Wolfenstein 2009 from Steam). This doesn't mean that this game is bad. The opposite actually, it's a great hidden gem that is very cheap even when not on sale.
So with the developers out, it was up to the community to fix RTCW and they did. However, the mods that are available are scattered around the internet and there are mods that conflict with each other and break the game! And we don't want that now do we?
There was a mod on ModDB called Venom mod that fixed everything but for some reason the developer of the game deleted the files from there
Here's where I come in

Here's where I come in
I didn't want to give up on this game so after much trial and error I actually managed to find every non-conflicting, bug fixing mod and posted it here[drive.google.com]. The only thing that you need to do is unzip the file and then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common and paste the folder found in the zip only. Press yes when it asks you to replace the files and then start playing :)
Save the RTCW map downloader on the desktop or in a folder that's easily accesible as you will need to run it every time you play multiplayer. More on that later.
So what does it do? Well, of course the most important thing is that it makes the game run at a solid 120-125 fps. It also adds full widescreen support for the singleplayer only (there is no widescreen support for the multiplayer as punkbuster, the game's version of VAC, will ban you if you have widescreen for some reason). IMPORTANT: If you set the resolution higher than 1024x768 then the multiplayer will crash and it will keep crashing every time you open it. If this happens then delete the folder and download it again.
In addition, I provided a fix for multiplayer and the program RTCW map downloader. The MP fix enables you to actually play online as the default one no longer works properly. The map dowloader is not required in order to be able to play multiplayer but it's REALLY useful as RTCW doesn't support http downloads which leads to really slow download speeds. To use the downloader just open it before you open RTCW and you are all set. I didn't include the CD key or any save files however. This means that you have to buy the game to play and that you won't have to worry about deleting the saves yourself.
For multiplayer, I recommend ECGNetwork: 64.237.36.250:27960, it's the most active server of the game. To connect, simply open the console (press the button between tab and esc) and type /connect 64.237.36.250:27960.However it's better to just play Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, a differend game, which is an enhanced version of RTCW's multiplayer. That game has a surprisingly big community even though it's pretty old.
