Download files faster from internet

Tip

As a general rule, keep Windows patched with the most recent updates and keep running applications and background processes to a minimum when downloading files. Use Windows Task Manager to monitor open applications and processes.

If you are experiencing serious problems with the speed of downloads within Chrome, check your anti-virus and firewall applications to ensure the application is allowed to make incoming and outgoing connections. Run a full system scan for security problems in case a malware infection is interfering with Chrome. Uninstalling Chrome and reinstalling the software using the latest version from the Google Chrome website can also fix certain performance problems.

Google Chrome can only download files and pages as quickly as your Internet connection allows. Use an alternative browser such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to determine the speeds you can expect on a system. A speed test website such as SpeedTest.net can also be useful for diagnostic purposes.
