Protect Yourself From Tech Support Scams

Tech support scams are an industry-wide issue where scammers trick you into paying for unnecessary technical support services. You can help protect yourself from scammers by verifying that the contact is a Microsoft Agent or Microsoft Employee and that the phone number is an official Microsoft global customer service number. 

Presumably your "4 month old Inspiron 3000 Series laptop" uses Windows 10; please confirm.

Open Device Manager (press "Windows Logo" key and R key simultaneously, type devmgmt.msc in the Open box, and press Enter).  Double-click the "Network adapters" section.  Double-click the entry for your wireless adapter.  What is its "Device Status"?

Assuming you have a driver problem rather than a hardware problem, get the driver as follows.

If you have access to the wireless router to which your older laptop connects, connect the new one to the router with an Ethernet cable and go to https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?app=products  Click the "Detect PC" button; if necessary, download Dell's "Support Assist."  This should let you know what driver you may need.

Otherwise, enter your Dell Service Tag at the link above.  This will get you to the download page for your specific machine.

Finally, assuming your new Inspiron 3000 is one of the Inspiron 3000 series models with 64-bit Windows 10 listed below, Dell has an "Urgent" driver update for the "Qualcomm QCA61x4A/QCA9377 WiFi and Bluetooth Driver" here:  https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=4747j&oscode=wt64a&productcode=inspiron-17-3793-laptop

Dell says "This release contains certified drivers for Windows 10 October 2018 Update and Windows 10 April 2019 Update."

I, too, am experiencing a similar (but same issue) with my new Dell Inspirion 3793 running Windows 10 x64. My issue is that I lose Bluetooth capability on my device. This impacts my mouse. In device manager, the bluetooth device is greyed (or blue-ed) out and does not function. Bluetooth goes awry after every Windows update. Another change noticed is that in "Services", my bluetooth services are changed to "manual" and they are stopped. However, when you change those settings, bluetooth still does not work.

I purchased this laptop in March, 2020 and Dell has now requested I turn the laptop in and have it examined or Windows be reinstalled completely.

Can someone check to see if Windows Update impacts this particular wireless and bluetooth driver in question?
