trakt_next-episode works, but flexget still searches s01e01 for some series
Okay I think I found a solution, but I don’t understand how it works. I need some basic help!
This is how I think flexget works:
- It will read all templates.
- It will execute tasks and execute templates as subtasks.
- A task that fills the database = a task that fills the Flexget database, now Flexget knows what files you have on your drive.
- A task that creates a custom entry list, ie from a trakt custom list = a task that creates a “wanted” list in the Flexget database. This set does not necessarily have to match with the existing items in the database. The database can contain all files on your drive, also for tv shows you no longer watch.
- the RSS task will start downloading files, but is somehow magically connected to the custom entry list
–> I don’t understand A) how the RSS task knows it should respect the entry_list and B) the first unwatched episode to download. Perhaps it doesn’t know the latter but because RSS only contains new stuff, it shouldn’t be an issue? - the Discover task should download eps that are older, not present in RSS but that magically are present in the custom entry list.
–> Again I don’t understand C) how the Discover task knows it should respect the entry_list, I do understand it doesn’t know where to start so it just goes for S01E01.
This is how I “solved” it: I created a template with next_trakt_episodes and added the template to my Discovery task.
But as you can see in the log, even though Discovery always goes for the correct starting episode based on my Trakt Watched status, it does complain no beginning has been set for every tvshow! How is that possible? I see the correct behaviour but with these warnings, this solution doesn’t seem to be the right way to do it.

And the log below. Notice the messages 2017-07-10 21:10 VERBOSE next_series_episodes download-series-discover Series has no history. Set begin option, or use CLI subcommand to set first episode to emit" for every tvshow, but it DOES know where to start because it doesn’t download any series from S01E01 except for the few that I haven’t started watching yet (Bull, Goodwin Games).
